Recreational access for people with a disability can be difficult to come by in Montana. Our goal is reach out to landowners across the state to gain easier access for individuals with disabilities.
Our family has always found joy and fulfillment in outdoor recreation – hunting, fishing, or really any activity that allows a person to connect with the natural environment and surroundings Montana has in such abundance. When my youngest brother was born with Cerebral Palsy, we began to become more aware of the challenges differently abled individuals face when recreating on public lands. It can be overwhelming to navigate the combination of public land accessibility and the pressures associated with hunting and fishing access and we quickly discovered that finding viable options for a differently abled individual was immensely challenging. Through the support of several gracious landowners, my brother has been given the opportunity to experience the joys of hunting and fishing in ways that otherwise would have been impossible. Wild and Able was born from the belief that if we were able to secure this opportunity for him, why can’t we do this for others also?
